Introduction to the Case

LAKE COUNTY, Ill. — Felony charges have been filed against a Chicago man accused of extorting and sexually assaulting a Lake County teen over several months.

Details of the Charges

According to officials from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Montreal Montgomery, an Albany Park resident, is facing a slew of felony charges, including two counts of criminal sexual assault, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, one count of aggravated domestic battery, two counts of aggravated battery and two counts of traveling to meet a minor.

The Alleged Crimes

Deputies say the charges against Montgomery stem from an alleged months-long campaign to extort and sexually assault a teen girl whom he met on social media. According to deputies, it all began earlier in 2025 when Montgomery allegedly met the teen on social media. Between the time they initially met and Sept. 1 of 2025, deputies say Montgomery allegedly drove to Lake County to meet the girl on several occasions, and allegedly pressured her into a sexual relationship.

Extortion and Assault

At some point, deputies say Montgomery managed to obtain nude photos of the teen, and allegedly threatened to share them if she did not continue the sexual relationship. Deputies say on Sept. 1, Montgomery allegedly traveled to Lake County and picked up the victim, but as he was driving, she began to plead with him to delete the nude photos of her from his phone. Montgomery then allegedly became enraged and pushed the teen from the moving vehicle and fled the scene.

Arrest and Charges

Authorities eventually caught up with Montgomery on Friday and took him into custody.
