Leona’s Pizzeria Opens In Old Irving Park, Bluebird’s Portage Cafe Closes
Introduction
PORTAGE PARK — Leona’s Pizzeria opened a new location in Old Irving Park, Gladstone Park has a new artisan sandwich shop and the building that once housed the Bluebird Cafe’s Portage Park location is now for sale.
Openings
The pizzeria chain has found a new home in Old Irving Park after its Elston Avenue location closed late last year. Leona’s, which was founded in Lakeview in 1950, opened in the former Tahina Kitchen storefront last month.

Leona’s offerings include a wide array of pizzas — from stuffed-crust to Detroit-style and Sicilian pan — as well as Italian ice, gelato, fried mozzarella bricks, loaded Italian beef and cheese fries, a parmesan chicken sandwich and pasta. The full menu is available here.

MooDeng Cafe and Sushi Bar opened in the former Bonboiak Chocolatier storefront in Six Corners last month. The restaurant serves sushi rolls, including a spicy tuna and hamachi roll, a crunchy spicy salmon roll and a shrimp tempura roll. MooDeng’s menu also features yellowtail sashimi, poke bowls, miso soup, BBQ pork buns, Thai iced tea, green tea cheesecake and coconut rice pudding.
