CHICAGO – Heavy rain is in the forecast for much of Chicagoland Friday evening.

The round of afternoon storms has the potential to produce hazardous winds, hail and even isolated tornado risks.

The National Weather Service did issue a Tornado Watch for much of Chicagoland until 11 p.m. Friday night, but dropped it at around 9:30 p.m.

The FAA also issued a ground stop at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, but dropped it at around 10:45 p.m.

Temps on Friday will stay in the 70s overnight into Saturday, but more hot and humid weather is on the way for the weekend.

Saturday Forecast

SATURDAY:  Partly cloudy, warm and humid. Another round of scattered showers and possible thunderstorms may impact up to 40% of the metro area, especially during the afternoon.  Winds: Southwest 5-15 mph. High: 86.
