The current weather conditions are mainly clear, with comfortably warm temperatures and low humidity. The mid 60s inland and a low of 70 are expected for Tuesday night.
Wednesday is expected to open with a good deal of sunshine, but some clouds will arrive towards lunchtime and into the afternoon hours.

Highs will be similar to Tuesday, reaching the upper 80s, if not touching 90-degrees in a few locations.

The northern suburbs are currently in a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for seeing a strong or severe thunderstorm. The biggest threat would be 50-60 mph winds if it were to develop.
Future Outlook
Spotty, isolated showers and possible thunderstorms will develop in the heat of the afternoon, but rainfall coverage will be sparse, only impacting about 20-30% of the metro area.
Lake Michigan Forecast
Water temperatures have warmed noticeably thanks to the streak of warmer than normal days. For area Mariners who might have the day off, conditions on the lake will be ideal Wednesday with wave heights generally a foot or less.

Strong sun continues with unprotected skin risking a sunburn in under 20 minutes at peak time, 1pm, according to Dr. Bryan Schultz.

Isolated thunderstorms are again in the forecast Thursday afternoon and evening, but only impacting about 20-30% of the metro area. Additional widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible over the weekend with far more dry hours than wet ones.

Chicago’s Forecast Highs and Departures from Normal
A warmer than normal streak of high temperatures is expected to continue through the opening first weekend of July.
Friday Upper Level Winds
A large ridge of high pressure develops (Dome of heat) over the central U.S., bringing another spell of hot temperatures as the dome expands east. The result for the Chicago area will be 2025’s third heat wave (three or more days with highs in the 90s).
