Weather Forecast and Updates
Introduction to Weather Maps and Radar
The sunshine has taken a little hiatus this week in Chicagoland.
But it’ll at least try to make an appearance later Thursday before returning in full for Memorial Day weekend.
Thursday will still be mostly cloudy, though, especially during the morning hours, with lingering light showers still moving through the area. Finally, rain chances diminish and clouds begin to break up later, perhaps giving Chicagoland residents a few peeks at the sun later Thursday afternoon.
Winds shifting from northwest to a more northerly direction will gust up to around 25 miles per hour later, creating waves from 3 to 7 feet at Lake Michigan beaches. A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect for lakeside counties through late Thursday night, which means dangerous swimming conditions.
Sunshine or clouds, however, it’s going to remain cooler than normal for the near future still. Thursday highs will reach only the upper 50s inland and the low to mid-50s at the lakefront, much cooler than the typical high of 73 for May 22.
See below for more information on what it’s looking like for Memorial Day weekend and when it may finally warm up again around Chicagoland.

Looking Ahead
Modest temperature recovery is likely in coming days, with many locations across the Chicago area seeing highs in the 60s, but still well below normal.
The string of sub-normal maximum temperatures began last Sunday and is likely to continue at least another seven days before we get back to or slightly above normal again.
