It’ll be a chilly start to the day Wednesday across portions of Michigan where a frost advisory and freeze warning are in effect as temperatures will dip into the 20s and low 30s.
Roughly 120 million Americans will reach at or above 80 degrees and nearly 218 million U.S residents will be at or above 70 degrees.
An approaching weather system brings increasing cloudiness by lunchtime Wednesday and scattered showers during the afternoon. It will continue at times through Friday afternoon with embedded thunderstorms. Precipitation will exit the area in time for the weekend.
Rainfall and Flooding
The potential for flooding rains exists for portions of Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma as this area is currently in a level 3 of 4 risk for excessive rainfall.
The Chicago area is under a marginal risk on Thursday for seeing excessive rainfall.
Total rainfall across the Chicago area is likely to exceed 1.00 inch with some areas receiving close to 2.00 inches.
Temperatures settle back to near or slightly below normal the next several days with no sign of 80s returning.
