Incident Unfolds in Building on 1300 Block of South Racine Avenue
According to Chicago police, a 23-year-old man is in custody after allegedly stealing a security guard’s gun and opening fire on the city’s Near West Side on Saturday morning.
Security Guard and Suspect Engage in Fight
The incident began when the suspect, who was allegedly refused to leave the building, and the security guard, who was working at the location, got into a fight. The suspect allegedly hit the security guard in the face and managed to get ahold of his gun.
Shooting, but No One Hit
During the fight, the suspect allegedly fired a shot from the gun, but no one was hit. The security guard then fled for safety and contacted the police.
Police Respond, Take Suspect into Custody
Officers and members of the CPD SWAT Team responded to the scene and cleared the building before taking the suspect into custody.
