Chicago, IL – A Change in Weather Patterns Expected
It appears that it’s just one more day or so in the freezer for Chicagoland. Sunday will remain chilly, with sunny skies later, as a north/northwest wind will keep high temperatures around 32 degrees. Early-morning temperatures ranged in the teens throughout the area, with wind chills a little colder than that.
Those wind-chills will again dip down into the single digits overnight and early Monday, but then a big warm-up begins as winds shift to the south/southwest. Gusts could reach 40 miles per hour on Monday, which will push in much milder air as the day progresses, with highs into the low 40s. The rest of the week looks to be similar, with temps maybe even pushing 50 in Chicagoland as January turns to February and spring creeps just a tad closer.

Looking Ahead
The extended outlook calls for continued mild weather on Tuesday, with partly sunny skies and temperatures in the low 40s. A blast of cold weather this week looks to miss us this time around, as it projects to be tracking to our east instead. So, we look to stay pretty mild for the season on Wednesday, with highs near 40, and milder still on Thursday, with highs near 50.
This is a noteworthy change when computing the average temperature. The latest weekly average temperature — Sunday, January 19, through Saturday, January 25 — wound up around 11 degrees. When looking ahead at the upcoming seven days, the average temperature based on current forecasts is calculated at 30 degrees. This means that this week, on average, will be nearly 20 degrees warmer than last week.
