A Dolton man accused in a fatal Southwest Side shooting late last year has been taken into custody this week, according to Chicago police. Police said 34-year-old Mardy Williams has been charged with one count of first-degree murder.
Shooting Occurred on November 6
The charge stems from Williams’ alleged role in a deadly shooting that unfolded in the 7000 block of South Ashland Avenue, in West Englewood, on November 6, police said. An initial report by Chicago police indicated that Williams had allegedly gotten into an argument with the victim, a 36-year-old man, and during the altercation, pulled out a gun and fired two shots.
Victim Suffered Two Gunshot Wounds
Officers said the victim suffered two gunshot wounds to his chest and was taken to the hospital, where he later died. Following the shooting, officers said Williams allegedly fled the scene.
Williams Arrested in Auburn Gresham
Authorities caught up with Williams on Monday in Auburn Gresham, where he was taken into custody in the 1600 block of West 79th Street. Williams appeared in court on Thursday for a detention hearing.
