Must read

Current Weather Conditions

The current weather conditions are partly cloudy with a bit of haze. The temperature is expected to remain comfortable with low humidity. Winds are blowing at a speed of 5-10 mph from the east-northeast, and the low temperature is expected to be around 65 degrees.

The Next Few Hours

Tuesday is expected to start with a mix of sun and clouds, with the skies becoming sunnier as the day progresses. The high pressure north and east of Chicago will continue to slowly move east, resulting in another day of easterly winds off the lake. This will lead to highs in the 70s for areas near Lake Michigan, while inland areas will experience highs in the 80s. Dew points will remain relatively tolerable for early August, despite a slight increase.

Extended Outlook

Building heat will become the story as the week progresses and into the coming weekend, with temperatures expected to warm by a few degrees each day. A ridge of high pressure will develop over the central U.S., causing the jet stream to shift further north and signaling the return of 90-degree heat.

Lake Michigan/Beach Forecast

Easterly winds are expected to be light, averaging 5-10 mph, resulting in a modest 1-2 foot chop on the lake for swimmers and boaters. Water temperatures will remain comfortable, near seasonal highs.
