Weather Updates for Chicagoland
Introduction to Weather Conditions
If you’re heading out the door for your Tuesday morning commute around Chicagoland, you may think it’s summer. Well, not so fast. The balmy temps that made Monday our warmest day of 2025 so far — it reached 84 degrees at O’Hare International Airport and 85 at Midway International Airport — carried into the overnight hours, with Tuesday morning seeing temps in the mid-70s.
But that’s as warm as it’s going to get. The high for Tuesday, in fact, was reached around midnight, as southwest winds will shift to northwest, ushering in much colder air from Canada and causing temps to plunge around Chicagoland later Tuesday.
Temps will drop down into the low to mid-60s by mid-afternoon, then Wednesday highs will struggle to reach 60.

Looking Ahead
The extended outlook calls for a soggy start to May on Thursday, with highs in the mid- to low 60s. A new and wet weather system arrives later Wednesday into Thursday, bringing the next chance for showers and possible thunderstorms. The potential exists for some soaking rainfall across the metro area.
High temperatures will also dip below normal for three of the next five days following Monday’s unseasonable warmth.
However, we should dry out by Friday afternoon, with highs in the low 60s. Then we’re looking at a nice weekend ahead, with low 60s on Saturday then more sun on Sunday and highs in the low 70s.
An overall warmer than normal pattern is forecast to dominate much of the country as we slide into May, except for portions of California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and western Texas.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the weather in Chicagoland is expected to be quite unpredictable in the coming days. With temperatures dropping and rising, and chances of rain and thunderstorms, it’s essential to stay up-to-date with the latest weather forecasts.
