Friday’s Weather Forecast

Timing the rains on Friday: A band of showers and thunderstorms could impact portions of the early morning rush hour followed by a noticeable break allowing temperatures to soar to summerlike levels.

An isolated thunderstorm is possible in the late afternoon, but a better chance of potentially strong or severe thunderstorms arrives toward or just beyond sunset Friday evening.

Friday highs locally:

Friday highs across the U.S.: 224 million at least 70°F and 110 million at/above 80°F.

Weather Conditions and Forecast

Dewpoints (a measure of atmospheric moisture) are forecast to surge into the 60s which is the highest levels we’ve seen so far this year. The added moisture adds instability in the atmosphere allowing the storms to pack more of a punch. In addition to the warm, noticeably more humid atmosphere will be the presence of gusty south to southwest winds 30-40 mph throughout the day.
