The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Cook, DuPage, Will, Grundy, Kankakee, Kendall, LaSalle and Livingston counties in Illinois, and for Lake County, Indiana, until 7 a.m.
A band of accumulating heavy, wet, wind-whipped snow will move in during the overnight hours.
Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and may combine with falling snow to reduce visibilities to one half to one quarter mile for some areas.
Most areas will receive 1 to 3 inches, but isolated totals of 4 inches are not out of the question with totals under 0.5 inches far north near the Illinois/Wisconsin border.
