Just before 8 p.m. on February 24, Pamela Lukes, 68, was walking across the street at North and Lotus avenues when a grey Hyundai Sonata ran into her and left the scene, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Lukes, of Austin, suffered trauma, a laceration to her head, and fractures to her legs, police said. She was taken to the Loyola University Medical Center initially in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 9:23 p.m. Monday, police and the medical examiner’s office said.
