Mild Late February Day Expected in Chicagoland
It’s going to be another mild late February day in Chicagoland, with high temperatures well into the 50s in some locations.
Mostly cloudy morning skies are also projected to clear later, yielding to more sunshine on Tuesday afternoon than we saw on Monday, which was Chicagoland’s warmest day in 11 weeks.
Early-morning temps have a wide range, with lakefront readings all the way into the mid-40s and some inland locations closer to freezing.
However, this will shift later Tuesday, with easterly winds keeping things cooler along the lake. Afternoon highs will be in the mid- to upper 40s along the lake and in the low to mid-50s inland. Some locations south of I-80 could even see temps creep into the upper 50s.
The rest of the week is forecast to stay mild, with temps in the 40s and 50s as February comes to an end.
Looking Ahead
While some ebbs and flows are likely, the overall pattern is fairly mild as we move through the final days of February and into the opening week of March.
There’s no sign of the bitterly cold air mass that dominated our weather scene last week returning anytime in the near future.
High temps will remain in the 40s and 50s this week, with mid-50s possible on Friday. There will be a bit of a cool-off this weekend, with highs in the mid-30s, but next week looks to be mild again.
