Deadly Blaze on West Ridge
A child has died after being injured in a fire that erupted at an apartment on the city’s North Side on Friday morning. Two others, including a firefighter, were also injured in the blaze.
Fire Raged Through Building
The deadly blaze broke out at a building in the 2700 block of West Granville Avenue in West Ridge. SkyCam9 was over the scene at around 11:15 a.m. when the building was fully engulfed in flames and fire crews could be seen working to control the fire from the ground and a nearby roof.
Injuries and Fatalities
Chicago fire officials confirmed to WGN-TV that a child and an adult were taken to the hospital in critical condition following the fire. The child, whose age is unknown, later died from their injuries. A firefighter was also taken to the hospital in good condition.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have not yet identified anyone involved and it is currently unclear what sparked the blaze.
