Arriving officers were directed toward the gunman and arrested without incident. The 37-year-old woman was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. A 30-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the 7100 block of South Damen Avenue a little before 11 p.m. in the West Englewood neighborhood when he heard two cars drive by at a high rate of speed, police said. The man heard gunshots and realized he was shot in the hip. The two cars drove off. The victim was treated by paramedics and taken to Christ Hospital where he was listed in good condition.

East Side Shooting

A 20-year-old woman was in a car in the 10700 block of South Avenue F in the East Side neighborhood a little before 4 a.m. when a black sedan pulled alongside her. An unknown offender inside the sedan fired shots in the woman’s direction and drove off, police said. The woman was shot in both ankles and was taken to Trinity Hospital where she was listed in good condition.
