The Kohl Children’s Museum in Glenview is helping kids learn more about themselves and the world around them.
The Backstory
“Together We Grow!” is designed to help children understand the role they play in the larger community.

The exhibit features several interactive components, including the Fishing Wishing Well, where children can drop their magnetic fishing pole in the well and reel in a fish.
“They get to concentrate on getting their fish, finding their favorite colors. They work together. And the fishing component of it really is kind of a community activity,” said Vito Gioia, Director of Visitor Experience.
The fish have various prompts like, ‘What could you wish for to make the world a better place?’”
Another feature is Rainbow Weaving, which helps children use their fine motor skills by weaving clothing onto an image of a child.
“We also have this collaboration of weaving all the children together to help create community,” said Gioia.

Other features at the museum include a child-sized tabletop town and a wind tunnel.
