A Chicago woman, 21-year-old Vanessa Delgado, has been charged with multiple felony counts after allegedly stabbing two people during a carjacking and subsequent crash on the Southwest Side.
Incidents Began in Garfield Ridge Neighborhood
According to Chicago police, the incidents began just before 7 a.m. on Thursday in the city’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood. Delgado allegedly approached a 41-year-old woman in the 5100 block of South Rutherford Avenue as she was walking to her car. Delgado then allegedly stabbed the woman in the chest and bicep before stealing her Nissan Rogue.
Victim Taken to Hospital in Critical Condition
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Crash and Second Stabbing
Minutes after stealing the woman’s car, officers said Delgado allegedly crashed it into a parked car in the 5100 block of South Mulligan Avenue. A 30-year-old man, who heard the crash, approached the scene, but Delgado allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the back. He was later taken to the hospital in good condition.
Delgado Taken into Custody
Delgado was taken into custody less than 30 minutes after the second stabbing and taken to the hospital for minor injuries she suffered in the crash.
