Barbara Bates to Host Annual Show for Breast Cancer Awareness
Barbara Bates, a renowned fashion designer and breast cancer survivor, is thrilled to announce her annual Breast Cancer Awareness show, "Walking the Runway for Hope," to be held on October 19, 2024. The event will take place at the Mount Sinai Hospital, with a VIP Cocktail Reception at 4:00 p.m. and the fashion show from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The show will be hosted by Sharaun, a former America’s Next Top Model from cycle 11 in 2008, who advocates for women’s wellness. Over half of the models in the fashion show are breast cancer survivors, making this event a deeply personal and meaningful endeavor for Bates.
A Personal Journey
As a breast cancer survivor, Bates is deeply committed to Breast Cancer Awareness, education, and resources for families in Chicago. "My survival story is a part of my journey as a designer," said Bates. "I hope to inspire women who may be diagnosed with breast cancer or survivors of breast cancer to fight that good fight, and look beautiful while doing it."

Bates has built a successful fashion career spanning over three decades, working with prominent clients such as Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson, Whitney Houston, Linda Johnson Rice, SINBAD, and Will Smith. She is best known for her urban and cutting-edge designs.
