According to the Chicago Police Department, a 17-year-old boy was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder in connection with a deadly shooting that left a 43-year-old woman dead on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred in the 6800 block of South Cornell Avenue, in South Shore.

The Shooting Unfolded at 3:50 p.m.

The police reported that the woman was inside a residence when the teen boy allegedly approached and opened fire, leaving her with four gunshot wounds to her head. She was transported to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The Victim’s Identity Revealed

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victim as 43-year-old Tatanisha Jackson. The police have not yet released any information on what led to the shooting.

The Alleged Gunman Turned Himself In

According to the police, the alleged gunman initially fled from the scene but later turned himself in to police just before 10 p.m. on Thursday.
